Value of 10/22 Stainless bull barrel?

I've been offered a 10/22 stainless bull barrel synthetic stocked rifle as a partial trade, and I'm trying to figure out what to place the value at. Basically, what could I reasonably expect to pay in a private party transaction for the same rifle? I haven't seen it yet, but it supposed to be like new. Is ~$300 fair, or is that too much? Too little?

Depends on whether you need a stainless bull barrelled .22. I would have no use for one, since I consider a .22 to be for casual plinking and carrying on a walk. But there are people who get really serious about rimfire target shooting. It would be worth a lot more to them than to me.

I would suggest evaluating it based on the expected happiness it would bring YOU, and not based on retail minus a percentage or even on comparable private sales. After all, someone has to make a private deal for others to reference. You might as well be a leader instead of a follower.

Well, I don't need it, I've already got a basic 10/22 that I'm perfectly happy with. I'd probably end up selling the stainless one. But, it's the best offer I've gotten so far, so I'm entertaining it. I guess I'll just start haggling with the guy, and see if I can make a deal.

It really depends who made the barrel, for a Butler creek it is okay, for a Clark or Volquartzen it is a good deal.
